Plan Your Trip

Planning doesn’t have to be overwhelming

I’ve pulled together my favorite planning tools, timelines, and real-world tips to help you map out a trip that feels smooth, doable, and honestly… fun to plan.

These are the same strategies I use for everything from weekend getaways to longer adventures—and I share exactly how I build out itineraries, prep with purpose, and keep things flexible along the way.

If you like having a plan but don’t want to overdo it, you’re in the right place.

What do I use to plan with ease (and joy)?

I’ve rounded up my favorite and most-used resources to help take the guesswork out of planning. From how I research destinations to booking excursions, these are the tools I reach for every time we travel.

5 travel rules I swear by

A cup of latte with heart-shaped foam art in a green cup and saucer, a spoon resting on the saucer, and a pair of sunglasses beside it—perfect for your next Australia Travel Tips or Melbourne Travel Guide photo stop.

01. Plan just enough to feel ready—not overwhelmed.

I like having a loose game plan, so I know what matters most but still have room to chase unexpected moments.

02. Always build in extra time.

Delays, detours, or just a coffee break—those little buffers keep stress low and curiosity high.

03. Traveling is a skill you build.

Like a muscle, it gets easier the more you do it. Learn from each trip, tweak your style, and trust the process.

04. Chase joy, not just checklists.

I’d rather linger over one joyful moment—a sunset, a great meal, a spontaneous detour—than rush through a must-do list.

05. Keep it easy on yourself.

Comfort isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Take that Uber, book the early check-in, or pack only what you’ll actually use.
